Maya Civilisation
Electronic Atlas of Ancient Maya Sites
The Maya civilisation flourished across Mesoamerica for over 3,000 years, leaving behind thousands of archaeological sites spanning modern-day Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, and El Salvador. At its peak during the Classic period, the Maya built sophisticated cities, developed a complex writing system, and created advanced astronomical calendars. This atlas documents 5,223 named sites from the EAAMS dataset.
